What services are available when emigrating to America?

If you are planning on emigrating to the USA, there are a number of services to consider. Most people choose to move their household effects by sea, but some do consider sending some important items by airfreight.

Emigrating to USA by Sea

Moving to America: Full Container Load (FCL)

Your effects are packed at your home and loaded directly onto a 20ft or 40ft container and transported directly to the docks to await the next scheduled sailing. Pickfords will arrange to send the consignment to the local Allied agent in America, who will liaise with you to help arrange customs clearance and delivery.

Moving to America: Shared Load

Your effects are packed at your home on an agreed date and transferred to our international warehouse for onward transport to your new home in America. Your move co-ordinator will confirm arrival dates and liaise with you for delivery and unpacking once your consignment has cleared customs. This service is a more cost effective service than an FCL service and is recommended if you can be flexible with your delivery dates and as you only pay for the space you use in the container.

What if I need storage?

If you have goods that need to be stored while moving to America, Pickfords provides a professional storage service either in the UK or at your destination in the USA.

What is Replacement as New Insurance and is there an excess?

For your peace of mind, Pickfords offers Replacement as New Insurance.

This means that in the event of an insurance claim, your items will be replaced or repaired. There is no excess on Pickfords' international marine insurance.

What if you need to return to the UK at some point in the future?

Pickfords offers a return loads service from the USA to the UK and Ireland.
